RCMP investigating overnight break-and-enters at cannabis stores

PRINCE GEORGE — Police in Prince George are investigating after three break-and-enters were reported at three separate local cannabis stores.

In a media release, Cpl. Jennifer Cooper says that the first break-and-enter happened just before midnight on Monday, October 3, at a cannabis store on the 1500-block of Victoria Street. The second incident occurred at around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4 on the 3300-block of Massey Drive. Numerous items were stolen from both shops and multiple suspects reported breaking in to both locations.

At around 3:30 a.m. on October 4, RCMP received reports that a third break-and-enter had occurred at another cannabis store on the 400-block of George Street. Multiple suspects were seen breaking into the store from a live-feed surveillance video. Images provided from this video were identified as the suspects in the two previous break-and-enters, and were known to police.

Officers arrived on the scene of the third break-and-enter and were able to locate one male and two youth suspects with the assistance of a police service dog. The suspects were arrested and transported to the Prince George RCMP detachment to await court proceeding. The initial cost of stolen items and damages to the businesses are estimated at over $30,000.
