QUESNEL — An undercover RCMP operation in Quesnel has resulted in multiple seizures of illicit drugs and several drug traffickers being arrested .

In July and August 2022, an undercover operation was set up by the Quesnel Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) to target the impact of the supply of toxic drugs in Quesnel, which would help reduce the number of overdoses and deaths in the community.

Police say that they made 42 purchases of illicit drugs from drug traffickers, executed four search warrants and seized over $90,000 in cash as well as cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, 15 firearms and two prohibited weapons.

Staff Sgt. Richard Wessen says that “the success of this unit would not have been possible without the support of the citizens of Quesnel.” The CRU also received the support of other police units to assist with the operation.
