City council candidate Chris Stern says B.C. government needs to do more with mental health, addiction
PRINCE GEORGE — Local businessman and former city employee Chris Stern is in the race for a city council seat in the 2022 municipal election.
In a conversation with Stern, he notes while infrastructure will be top of mind if he is elected, that the top issue that Prince George is facing right now, is the situation downtown.
Stern says that the issues surrounding downtown, which encompass homelessness, addiction and mental health, is not just a city issue. He says that the B.C. government needs to do more when it comes to housing, and providing more mental health services and addiction treatments.
Stern notes that there isn’t a bathroom in the downtown core that the homeless can use, which then results in human waste on sidewalks.
