RCMP investigating murder in downtown Kelowna

An altercation in downtown Kelowna turned deadly.

Police received a report that a group of people were involved in an incident outside a business in the 1300 block of Water Street around 12:45 a.m. today (Oct. 9).

“While en-route to the scene, RCMP were advised that one of the individuals had been stabbed during the altercation. Upon arrival, Kelowna general duty officers observed the victim lying on the grass with another male attempting life-saving measures,” said Constable Mike Della-Paolera.

The constable said BC Ambulance was at the scene, but life-saving efforts were unsuccessful, and the 32-year-old man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation which is still in its early stages.

“At this time, RCMP will not be releasing any further information,” said Della-Paolera, media relations officer.
