Prince George Budtender Reflects on Cannabis Culture as Legalization Anniversary Approaches

Oct 12, 2022 | 5:48 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – It’s been nearly 4 years since marijuana was legalized in Canada, and the anniversary date is fast approaching. Gone are the days of scoring a bag off generic weed off your buddy’s uncle, just 48 months after the legalization of cannabis in Canada, and that tried and true ritual has been replaced by private storefronts like Grasshopper Retail Inc.

Hunter Whiting, store manager of Grasshopper’s Hart highway location, says cannabis itself has shifted to become a conversation piece, as opposed to a long standing taboo, as more details about the product become accessable to the public.

” There’s definitely a lot more conversation about the product now. You know, before legalization when you’d pick up you’d be able to say ‘oh this stuff is decent’… but here, we can go into the terpene profiles, and the percentages, and I find you can really get a more unique experience with the flavous and the high, and the weed itself becomes a conversation piece” – Hunter Whiting, Budtender / Grasshopper Store Manager
