Oct 20, 2022 | 5:54 PM

PRINCE GEORGE- Community leaders from Lheidli T’enneh First Nation, and elected officials from the Province met at the Native Friendship Centre on 3rd Ave Thursday morning. The gathering was organized by the Aboriginal Housing Management Association, to provide an opportunity for a group discussion on the immediate needs for more access to safe and affordable housing solutions.

Speakers included Lheidli T’enneh Chief Dolleen Logan, who stressed the importance of housing as a human right, and urged for ongoing support of the urban indigenous populations .

“Housing is something that everyone has a right to, no matter where they live. We need to support Indigenous people living in their home communities and those who need to live in urban areas. Leaving your community dosn’t take away your right to housing. Handing someone the keys dosn’t create community… being supported, welcomed, and valued does, and thats what we are looking for today” – Chief Dolleen Logan, Lheidli T’enneh First Nation
