Local cadet group hosts bottle drive
PRINCE GEORGE — The Aurora Navy League Cadet Corps hosted a bottle drive on Saturday to raise funds for the group which is in need of funding.
Holly Barone, acting sub-lieutenant for the NLCC 142, says that each dollar counts as the cadet corps does not receive any funding from the government, through the Department of National Defense. However, the sea, air and army cadets do receive funding from the DND.
Barone says that all the money that comes in through fundraisers is put back into the cadet program to keep it running. Uniforms are provided for the cadets by the Navy League of Canada, but each uniform costs $750.00 each, which adds up.
