Wind gusts lead to power outages in Prince George and area

PRINCE GEORGE —Update (12:20 p.m.): Over 1,000 BC Hydro customers remain without power in the Prince George area after this morning’s wind storm.

Environment Canada says peak gusts hit 90 kilometres per hour. Salmon Valley remains the hardest hit area in the region with 475 customers still without power.

Earlier: Over 3,000 BC Hydro customers are currently without power due to this morning’s wind storm in Prince George.

The largest outage is occurring in the VLA neighbourhood where close to 1,700 customers are currently in the dark.
