PRINCE GEORGE — The hometown Prince George Cougars handed the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds their first loss of the season.

On Saturday evening in PG, the Cougars prevailed against Seattle as Riley Heidt scored two goals on the night in the 4-1 win.

The Cougars had the hot hand going early scoring in the first as Heidt scored his fifth goal of the year.

Looking into the second period, the Thunderbirds responded with a goal from Jared Davidson.

Shortly after, Heidt and the Cougars did their best response and gave Prince George a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Koehn Ziemmer scored a late goal in the third followed by an Ethan Samson empty-net goal to solidify the win.

The Cougars’ win halted Seattle’s nine-game winning streak to open the season and marks down a loss for the Thunderbirds.
