Teachers and B.C. government reach tentative contract deal
PRINCE GEORGE — After seven months of negotiation, the union representing nearly 49,000 teachers across British Columbia have reached a tentative three year contract agreement with the provincial government.
The BC Public School Employers’ Association announced the news on Monday, and the BCTF stated in a tweet that this agreement has “significant salary gains and other important improvements.”
The new agreement will see a general wage increase of 3.24 percent in the first year, between 5.5 and 6.75 percent in the second year and 2 to 3 percent in the third year.
