PRINCE GEORGE- It is the time of the year when we take a moment out of our days and learn about some of the health challenges men across the country and the world face daily.

Movember started in 2003 to raise awareness for men’s health.

“Most people know Movember for these lovely mustaches as they grow in November,” said Development Director Mitch Hermansen. “Movember is the world’s largest men’s health charity and works all year round, helping men live healthier happier longer lives.”

The charity focuses on three main health issues: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.

“These are some pretty heavy topics, but we try to tackle them with a fun campaign that often happens during November,” said Hermansen.

Movember is not only trying to raise awareness but change a culture.

“At the core of Movember, men are dying five years younger than women,” said Hermansen. It’s largely preventable. It comes down to the attitudes and behaviours we bring into our health.”

For those who struggle to grow a mo, there are still plenty of ways to save a bro.

“You can take our move challenge. We run or walk 60 kilometres in November,” said Hermansen. ” you can also host an event.”
