Tow plow increases efficiency with one driver clearing twice as much road

PRINCE GEORGE – Yellowhead Road & Bridge is tasked with maintaining the highways and rural roads in the Prince George region. Recently, YRB added a tow plow that can clear snow from a two-lane road in one pass.

“ It’s also a safety factor for our guys. When you’re dealing with blowing snow and working in tandem, the second truck has to back off a little bit from the first truck just to maintain visibility.”

The Tow Plow can spread traction material and a tank for dispensing liquids for snow and ice control. Traditionally arterial highways are plowed with two plow trucks working in tandem.

YRB says the Tow Plow system can increase the surface clearing of highways with less fuel. The system also frees the second operator to maintain other roads.
