PRINCE GEORGE — The B.C. government has announced that the city of Prince George will be receiving over two million dollars in provincial grant money.

Grants in lieu of property taxes are distributed every November and reimburse local municipalities throughout the province for the services they provide to the public and their support of local infrastructure, such as parks, municipally run sewers, roads and fire protection.

This funding also covers land and property owned by the BC government such as courthouses and office buildings. Prince George received the third most amount of money from the government, behind Victoria and Vancouver.
