PRINCE GEORGE — At the Musqueam Community Centre, David Eby was sworn in as British Columbia’s 37th premier. After taking office, Eby has set an ambitious agenda for his first hundred days, with promises to improve access to health care and afforadable housing expansion.

With the sign of a pen and a handshake, David Eby was officially sworn in as British Columbia’s 37th premier by Lieutenant-Governor Janet Austin at the Musqueam Community Center in Vancouver. After taking office, Eby has set an ambitious agenda for his first hundred days.

Leader of the Official Opposition, Kevin Falcon plans to hold Eby to account in all matters, especially those that Eby dealt with when he was Attorney General such as crime.

Former provincial BC NDP Candidate Bobby Deepak says that unity will be a part of Eby’s mandate, and has the backing of the NDP MLA’s and that British Columbians can be assured that he will do a good job.

Eby already used his first day in office to announce two new tax credits for British Columbians. Titled the BC Affordability Credit, low income families and medium income families, earning less than $150,051 and small businesses in B.C. will get a one-time cost of living credit of $164 for adults and $41 for children. The second tax credit is a $100 cost-of-living credit for residents on their electricity bills.

His new cabinet will be sworn in by the Lieutenant Governor on December 4 at Government House in Victoria, but the legislature will not meet again until the new year.
