PRINCE GEORGE- Prince George Fire Rescue crews from three halls responded to a structure fire on the 1400 block of Irwin Street on November 17, 2022, at approximately 4 p.m.

“Three Halls responded to a report of a structure fire. We arrived on scene and found the building that burned a month ago was burning again,” said Cliff Warner, Fire Chief with Prince George Fire Rescue.

Now with two fires at the same location in just over a month, residents are concerned for their safety.

“I’m concerned for my neighbours,” said Elisa Pitt, who had lived in the complex for two years before the fire in October. ” as long as this building is standing, it’s going to be subject to, you know, various people potentially entering.”

Pitt lives next to the unit that has now caught on fire twice, causing severe damage to her home.

“The fire kind of went over into the ceiling above the kitchen, a living room area which caused smoke damage throughout the entire unit,” said Pitt. “We’ve lost nearly everything.”

Damage that is so bad, Pitt and her family can no longer live in the unit.

“My son is six and we have been displaced,” said Pitt. “We are currently living in a local shelter, a women’s shelter. We’re just doing our best to process everything, you know, mentally and emotionally.”
