Green Party leader thinks climate report doesn’t go far enough

PRINCE GEORGE — The B.C. government is touting its sucesss in its progress on climate action in the 2022 Climate Change Accountability Report. Highlights includes doubling investment in emissions reduction projects to more than $90 million dollars, and expanding electric vehicle charging stations across the provinces, totalling more than 3000.

BC Green Party leader Sonia Furstenau says that the government needs to do far more in diversifying the economy, citing examples like Valemount where they want to convert to geothermal energy,creating cleaner energy and providing cleaner tranportation options for those in rural areas needs to be addressed.

The government says that are committed to meeting its 2030 emissions targets set in line with the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement, through reducing emissions and building a cleaner economy and that the province is on track to meet its 2030 targets, despite some saying that those targets may get pushed back.
