Prince George Community Foundation gives away $18,000 to six local Charities for Giving Tuesday
PRINCE GEORGE- The Prince George Community Foundation asked for your vote on which local non-profit would receive a $3000 grant in the spirit of Giving Tuesday, and Prince George did not disappoint. This year, the PG Community Foundation had a total of 18,000 to give away, divvied up into 6 categories covering everything from health and wellness, to recreation, and education.
Mindy Stroet, Director of Development with the foundation, was beaming with excitement as she handed out the checks to this year’s unsuspecting winners, commenting on how good it felt to be doling out the funds raised by the Community Foundation, to unsuspecting non-profit groups around Prince George, chosen as the winners by the community itself. Riley Skinner Executive Director of the Crisis Intervention Centre For Northern BC, was one of those recipients, and he was totally floored by the gesture, as it will immediately be put to good use supporting their ongoing Suicide Prevention and Education programming In the North.
All the funds raised by the PG Community Foundation we’re raised by Prince George, for Prince George, sourced from private donors and fundraisers held within the city. All the recipients were chosen by a public vote, highlighting the appreciation the local community has for the hard work our non-profits do, day in and day out, to support the local community and make the North a better place to live for everyone.
