CN Centre readies for full house

PRINCE GEORGE – It’s the calm before the storm. The Regina Pats practiced this morning for tonight’s game against the Cougars. And it has created a tremendous amount of energy in the community, with tickets sold out, even the standing room-only spots. And for the organizers of the CN Centre, it can present some interesting dynamics.

“So we’re getting ready for a sold-out game,” explains Glen Mikkelsen, Manager of Entertainment. “You’re correct. We have not done this very often in the last few years, as everybody knows. So it is putting some of the systems into place that we’ve done previously. We will have extra parking control in the lot. We’re bringing in extra staff to help out with food and beverage.”

But, Mikkelsen says they are prepared for any logistical glitches. But he says a full house at the CN Centre, regardless of its challenges, is a good problem.

“When this building is full of people, it just has an energy that, you know, is captivating. And that’s why I love this business,” says Mikkelsen. “And working here at the CN Center so much is because when you have all that energy, all that excitement, all that enthusiasm, there’s nothing like it. And, you know, Prince George is known for their encouraging, rambunctious crowds.”

The CN Centre has been a busy place this week, with other events like the Bonny M concert and the festival of Trees at the CN Centre. And that’s a good thing, with so many events attracting folks from all around the region.

But Mikkelen says ticketholders should be ready to do their part to make the ins and out’s of the event as painless as possible, encouraging people to arrive early.

“We’re encouraging people to arrive early tonight, doors open at 6:00 with the game starting at seven. So to accommodate everybody, you know, 6000 people at whenever this building is 6000 people, it is a bit of a trying experience.”

On that note, take a little extra time tonight to enjoy a chance of a lifetime event.
