“Invisible Tree” at Trees of CNC raises awareness of those living with invisible disabilities

PRINCE GEORGE — CNC is celebrating its Trees of CNC display but also is advocating for disabilities.

The “Invisible Tree” for invisible disabilities has the message of raising awareness for those living with invisible disabilities.

The Job Education Training (JET) program is backing the invisible tree saying they wanted their tree for the Trees of CNC to have a meaning behind it.

“Programs across CNC have many people with invisible disabilities or barriers, and it’s growing,” says JET’s program coordinator, Jason Dauvin.

“The last few years have been really tough. It’s really brought to light how much these barriers affect people and how important it is to have supports in place,” he adds.

The visual display has 80 red and gold ornaments strung together with an invisible fishing line advocating for invisible disabilities.

In a news release from CNC, the ribbons on the tree symbolize “the invisible barriers people may face including depression, autism, hearing loss, and learning disabilities.”

Those interested in seeing the tree display at the Trees of CNC will have the opportunity until December 16.

Visitors are also encouraged to bring donations to the CNCSU food bank.
