VANDERHOOF — Saturday, December 3 was National Impaired Driving Enforcement day and also marked the start of the holiday’s season drinking and driving counter attack program.

In the Vanderhoof area, police served multiple tickets and warnings, including a vehicle being impounded for excessive speed. At a check stop west of Fraser Lake, none of the drivers that came through were under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police would like to remind everyone to make plans to have designated drivers before heading out to take part in holiday festivities and that RCMP will continue to increase their efforts to detect and remove those that are driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs.

Driving impaired could result in a 30 day impound of your vehicle, loss of your license for 90 days, a $500.00 fine or criminal charges.
