Mega Park on hold

PRINCE GEORGE – One-by-one, those around Council Chambers opted to suspend any further decisions around the proposed Mega Park at the corner of Ospika Boulevard and 22 Avenue.

That came after Council was presented with a cost analysis of the park, in terms of maintenance and operations.

The estimate on an annual basis is $1.3 million.

That would be roughly the equivalent of one percent in taxes.

“The scope of the project is too big for me,” noted Councillor Brian Skakun.

There was plenty of reluctance to move ahead with the project as Council heads into budget at the end of January.

However, Councillor Kyle Sampson suggested having a date for the project to come back to Council rather than wind up in “political purgatory.”

The matter will come back to Council at the end of the second quarter of next year.
