UNBC offers $2,000 Nordiq Cup Tuition Credit to participating athletes

PRINCE GEORGE–Just under 2 months ago it was announced that Prince George would be hosting the 2023 Nordiq Canada Selection Trials and Nordiq Cup. Now the event is right around the corner with athletes from all over the world flying in on January.

In less than a month, many of the nation’s top cross-country ski athletes will be competing for a coveted spot on one of Nordiq Canada’s 2023 World Championship teams. All this is taking place at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club, and preparation continues to welcome world-class athletes to Prince George.

Approximately 250 high-performance athletes, aged 16 to 23, will converge on CNSC’s world-class facilities from January 18th to 21st, to compete for the opportunity to represent Canada at the Junior/U23 Nordic Skiing World Championship in Whistler the following week.

There is a buzz in Prince George about this event and UNBC has added to the excitement. The University made history announcing Thursday that for the first time ever a post-secondary tuition credit will be available to participating athletes. The university will offer a $2,000 Nordiq Cup Tuition Credit with the goal of helping young athletes manage their athletics and academics.

It’s something the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club was on board with from the beginning and continues to build its great long-standing relationship with UNBC.
