Special weather statement issued for Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE — Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Prince George and region due to the possibility of freezing rain.

The statement was prompted by a Pacific frontal system that covers the southwest interior and most of the central interior.

“A Pacific frontal system will move across the BC interior today. Snow mixed with ice pellets and freezing rain from the system will start near the Coast Mountains this morning and then spread eastward this afternoon. Areas of freezing rain will persist in the southern interior tonight.”

As a result, Environment Canada says travel conditions may be challenging due to patchy ice pellets and freezing rain. Some snow is also expected.
