SD57 to diversify bussing duties in 2023

PRINCE GEORGE – After months of struggle to meet demand by School District 57’s main bussing provider First Student will get some help.

Starting in 2023, Diversified Transportation will provide reinforcements to avoid having routes cancelled and students stranded and unable to make it to class.

School District 57 announced the news Thursday after mounting calls from parents who grew frustrated with the inconsistent bussing service provided by First Student.

Beginning January 2023 Diversified Transportation will be providing student transportation services for a number of previously underserviced routes within SD57 to ensure that all eligible riders are able to access transportation.

Route information will continue to be available on District websites and both providers will be contacting bussing students/families with information related to stop locations and pickup/drop off times.

The District appreciates that both providers were willing to work together to design a solution that puts students first and ensures that students are transported to and safely home from school each day.

In order to ensure stable and consistent service, the student transportation services in the District will be serviced by both First Student and Diversified Transportation until June 2024
