RCMP promise increased resources for New Year’s Eve in Prince George

Dec 31, 2022 | 9:21 AM

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George residents will be celebrating the arrival of 2023 without pandemic restrictions for the first time since 2020. And while that in itself is something to celebrate, RCMP are reminding residents to celebrate responsibly.

Mounties will have increased resources at their disposal tonight to patrol city streets and highways. “There is no excuse for anyone to be drinking and driving,” said RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass.

Residents have several options for a safe ride home including free transit service after 7 p.m. BC Transit is offering extended operating hours up to 3 a.m. along selected routes, to help everyone get home safely.

In addition, Operation Red Nose is expecting to have its busiest night of the year. Revellers can access the service by calling 250 962-RIDE.
