PRINCE GEORGE — The University of Manitoba Bisons remain at the top of the CIS – Canada West men’s basketball standings following a 98 – 87 victory over the University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves in Prince George Friday night (Jan. 6).
The Timberwolves fought back from a double-digit deficit to cut the Manitoba lead to 84 – 83 lead late in the game, but the Bison’s experience prevailed to improve the squad’s record to 8 – 1 on the season. The Timberwolves fell to 5 – 4.
Manitoba’s Simon Hildebrandt had a game high 27 points while Micah Jesse had 19 to lead the UNBC attack.
The two teams met once more Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Northern Sport Centre.
