UNBC women’s basketball victorious over Manitoba; men drop hard-fought tilt

PRINCE GEORGE — The University of Northern B.C. Timberwolves women’s basketball team used a third-quarter offensive burst to power past the University of Manitoba Bisons, 82-69.

UNBC scored 14 straight points in the third quarter to pull away.

The weekend sweep over Manitoba lifted UNBC’s record to 3-7, while the Bisons fall to 0-10.

The men’s basketball team wasn’t so successful, dropping an 80-70 decision to Manitoba.

The Timberwolves clawed back from a 23-point deficit in the third quarter, getting within eight points of Manitoba in the game’s final minutes, but came up short.
