Help is on the way for nurses in the province

PRINCE GEORGE- It was exciting news for those involved with the healthcare system Monday afternoon when Premiere David Eby announced that help was on the way for nurses in the province.

Through Bursaries worth up to ten thousand dollars and faster processing this announcement looks to make it easier for nurses trained internationally and nurses who want to return to practice to come to BC.

One of the many groups on hand for Monday’s announcement was the BC Nurses Union, who are pleased with what they heard.

“We’ve been working on this for many years,” said Aman Grewal, the president of the BC Nurses Union.

According to the province, the goal of these changes is to have more nurses in hospitals within 90 days.

The Union says that while today was a step in the right direction there is still plenty of work to be done in regard to retaining nurses and improving work conditions.
