PRINCE GEORGE- It was only a few weeks ago when MP Taylor Bachrach wrote a letter to the Minister of Transport, demanding answers for the thirty thousand people whose holidays were impacted by travel delays.

“There weren’t a lot of revelations at the meeting,” said Bachrach. ” One of the take-home messages is that our airports and airlines are not as prepared as they could be for the kinds of severe weather events that are coming with climate change.”

Countless airlines and airports saw delays. Few were worse than the problems in the lower mainland at YVR. Bachrach explained that some passengers were stuck on their planes for ten-plus hours.

“My questions for the minister were focused on what changes he plans to make to legislation to ensure that people get the compensation that they deserve,” said Bachrach.

However, the answers were lacklustre.

“To be frank, there was a lot of finger-pointing at the meeting by the airlines and the minister,” said Bachrach. ” I don’t know if we heard a sense of contrition that passengers deserved.”

The Minister of Transport did say he table a few reforms in the spring, Which Bachrach said is a step in the right direction.
