PRINCE GEORGE — The winter months are often known for being dark and gloomy and with Blue Monday coming up, we take a look at seasonal affective depression.

We can be accustomed to the shorter days during the winter and the bad weather, but the dark and gloomy days has effects on your mental health and it’s important to recognize what depression is. Seasonal affective disorder or SAD can happen during any season but it can be the most prevalent in the winter time.

Preplanning and having some coping mechanisms in place during the winter may help. Some simple steps like going for a walk can mitigate seasonal affective depression.
