UNBC research funding increases for third consecutive year
PRINCE GEORGE — The University of Northern BC has increased its research funding for the third year in a row.
According to Canada’s Top 50 Research Universities report, UNBC’s total research income rose to $15.2 million dollars, a 9.1 percent increase from the previous year and the largest overall since 2010. The university placed in the top 10 among universities in its tier categories related to research intensity and research income from not-for-profit sources. This also marks the fourth straight year that UNBC has finished first in a category in the rankings.
Research highlights from the past year include the creation of the Environmental Soltutions Innovation Hub, the growth of the Centre for Technology Adoption for Aging in the North and the launch of the Hearts-based Education and Anticolonial learning health care project.
