Mining going green
PRINCE GEORGE – It was during the Natural Resources Forum that the head of BC Hydro announced plans to seek expressions of interest in the possibility of more than doubling the amount of power on the line between Princde George and Terrace.
With seven new mines in the permitting process, including the Blackwater Mines south of Vanderhoof, and the head of the Mining Association of BC says, between those potentials and existing, operational mines in BC, there is significant interest in tapping into additional power sources.
“I think B.C. Hydro is is, you know, doing well to seek expressions of interest from all of the industrial potential industrial load in the Northwest to ensure that they’ve got the planning right, that they can get things built on time and get the electrons to where they’re needed on time,” explains Michael Goehring, President and CEO of the Mining Association of BC.
