Prince George RCMP invites public out for ‘Coffee with a Cop’

Jan 24, 2023 | 5:31 PM

PRINCE GEORGE- For the second time ever, Prince George city cops have invited the public out for a friendly chat and a free coffee, courtesy the PG RCMP. The goal is to help break the stigma surrounding policing, and to encourage community members to voice their questions and concerns about policing in their neighbourhood, by opening up the door for casual conversations with cops, while removing the usual stresses of a formal police encounter

If the substantial turnouts from the past two ‘Coffee with a Cop’ events are any indication of the publics appetite to get to know their local police force, then it’s safe to say the curiosity is there for residents of Prince George, to find out who the humans behind the badge really are. In a era where mask-mandates and enforceable emergency legislations are still fresh in the minds of many, RCMP Officers in the North can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that the public they live to serve and protect, can still appreciate them for the people they are off-duty, a reminder to Police and Public alike that we’re all in this together.
