PRINCE GEORGE- Day one of the Coldsnap Music festival is kicking off tonight to a sold out crowd at the Ramada Ballroom. Tickets for the “Coldsnap Craic” we’re snatched up in a hurry Friday afternoon as word spread through the city that Celtic fusion headliners West of Mabou & Mi’kmaq fiddler Morgan Toney would be raising the roof with some good ole east coast tunes. For Morgan Toney, it’s his first time ever in BC, and he was beaming with pride as he reflected bringing the performance of a 10,000 year old Mi’kmaq song and dance, to the unceded lands of another proud first nation, the Lheidli T’enneh.

East coast acts arn’t the only ones on the roster this year, in fact the line-up is an eclectic mix of nation-wide and homegrown BC acts. According to Katherine Benny, Assistant Executive Director of the Prince George Folk Festival Society, Coldsnap prides itself on opening the door to new experiences for audiences and artists alike… and that’s evident with this years ticket sales: it’s just day one and already there are a number of sold out events.

With genres ranging from folk fusion, to alt rock, franco-pop,and everything in between, the 2023 Coldsnap music festival is sure to have a little something for everyone. Tickets for each venue are on-sale at the Coldsnap 2023 website, where you can also check the line-ups and workshops scheduled for each day. On Tuesday next week, local acts from Prince George and the across the North will “Rock the Legion” starting at 730pm,. Admittance to this event is first come first serve, pay what you can at the door, so be sure to clear your schedules and get their early.
