CRANBROOK, B.C. — The Prince George Spruce Kings had a battle against one of the strongest teams in league, but failed to secure the victory as the Cranbrook Bucks win a 4-3 decision on Friday night (Feb. 3) at Western Financial Place.

Prince George outshot the Bucks 34-27, however, Nathan Airey was solid in net for the Bucks, stopping 31 of the 34 shots he faced.

Rhys Bentham struck first for the Bucks, tallying his 11th on the year to make it 1-0. Near the end of the first period, Nick Peluso would find the back of the net, giving the Bucks a two goal lead heading into the intermission.

In the second period, the Spruce Kings would cut the Bucks lead in half courtesy of Jack Stockfish who scores his 10th goal of the season. Less than three minutes later, Amran Bhabra would tie things up at two for Prince George heading into the third period.

Early on in the third period, Jarrod Smith would re-take the lead for the Bucks, making it a 3-2 game before Noah Quinn would add to the Bucks lead nearly two minutes later.

Ty Gagno of the Spruce Kings would get his 10th on the year late in the third but it would not be enough as the Bucks secure themselves their third win in their last four games.

Prince George now sits 20-15-2-1 on the campaign, sitting five points back of the West Kelowna Warriors for third place in the Interior division.

The Spruce Kings will continue on their road trip with a visit to Trail as they take on the Smoke Eaters for their fifth and final meeting. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. tonight at Comico Arena.
