PRINCE GEORGE — It was a dominant effort from the Prince George Cougars Friday night (Feb. 3) at the CN Centre, as they defeated their divisional opponents in the Victoria Royals, 8-1.

Caden Brown opened the scoring for the Cougars midway through the first period. However, it would remain 1-0 after 20 minutes of action.

Just 27 seconds into the second period Riley Heidt would score what would be the game-winner as the Saskatoon native would tally his 20th goal of the campaign to make it 2-0. Five minutes later, the Royals would get themselves on the board short-handed thanks to Marcus Almquist and make it a 2-1 game.

In spite of that, the Cougars would extend their lead 22 seconds later as Viliam Kmec would find the back of the net for his 5th of the campaign.
