PRINCE GEORGE – February 2020. That was the last time Winterfest graced the downtown, courtesy COVID. But it’s back this weekend, complete with some of the usual suspects.

“We’re going to bring back that winter playground,” explains Colleen Van Mook, Executive Director for Downtown Prince George. “We have Peter Vogler from Ephemeral Arts, who is coming to do snow and ice sculptures. And of course, when we look out there right now, we’re not exactly sure how much snow and ice there’ll be, but we’re excited.”

And the event is happening on a Saturday this year, meaning the Farmers’ Market on Third will be getting in on the action for the first time, which helps to remind folks that the market is open through the winter as well as summer.

You will find a chance to purchase some delicious S’Mores with all proceeds going towards some amazing local organizations. We will be joined by a few of our tasty food truck vendors serving up your favourite treats.

“And of course, again all the great shops. And we are also partnering with the Legion. They’re going to be putting on a pancake breakfast starting at ten. Our event is really kicking off at 11, but you might want to warm your tummy with some pancakes and at the Legion there will be free crafts and free face painting for kids, so you really can make a day of it.”

There will be public skating at the Kopar Memorial Arena, the Library will have special events, the Two Rivers Gallery and the Canfor Leisure Pool will also b open to the public.
