DPSS Condors Win 58-36, against NVSS Queens in Junior Girls Basketball
PRINCE GEORGE – The DPSS Condor’s faced off against the Nechacko Valley Queen’s this morning in a heated battle for a shot at the Zone Semi-Finals against Bella Coola, their longtime arch-rivals. The game today was a rough one, fouls and possession changes seemed to dominate the first half of play, as the Nechacko Valley girl’s flexed their strength, and kept up an aggressive offensive against the Condors.
But the Condor’s spirits weren’t so easily broken by the onslaught, the DPSS Jr Girls held their ground, and consistently out performed the Queens in attempted baskets, rebound retrievals, and ball possession, something Coach Reid Roberts credits to the high level of sportsmanship and comradery shown by the young women on the team.
Last year during the Regional championships, the Condor’s lost to Bella Coola by 6 points, missing out on the chance to play in the provincial championships. This year however, DPSS is hopeful the team’s new blood, and close knit comradery, will see them victorious in the long awaited grudge match for the regional champion title.
