RCMP search for suspect following report of attempted sexual assault

VANDERHOOF —Mounties in Vanderhoof are seeking your help in identifying a suspect following a report of an attempted sexual assault.

RCMP say they received a report of an attempted sexual assault on February 18 at 1:20 p.m. on McLeod Pit Road.

“The incident allegedly took place roadside, involving an unknown Indigenous man, and was interrupted when another motorist passed by the location. The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle,” says RCMP S/Sgt. Kris Clark.

The suspect is described as:

  • Five foot nine
  • 300 pounds
  • Black hair
  • Black partial beard with goatee
  • Brown eyes
  • A tattoo of a woman on his right forearm
  • Wearing a black t-shirt and black sweat pants

RCMP say the suspect vehicle is described as similar to a black GMC Savana cargo van.

“Fortunately, the victim was physically unharmed,” says S/Sgt. Kevin Day of the Vanderhoof RCMP. “The investigation is ongoing and we continue to actively seek information that could lead to the identity of the unknown suspect.”
