Gagno scores game winner, Spruce Kings defeat Vipers 3-2

PRINCE GEORGE— The Prince George Spruce Kings have bested the Vernon Vipers 3-2 on Friday (Mar.3) . The game was hosted at Kopar Memorial Arena, for their 24th win of the season.

Starting off strong the Spruce Kings opened their night with a goal from Jack Kurrle assisted by Ben Lefranc in the first. Two minutes later the spruce kings followed it up with another from Ty Gagno, tapping the puck out of midair past goaltender Roan Clark. Prince George would go into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead.

An increased effort from Vernon in the second dialled up the pressure for the Spruce Kings. Goalie Aidan Fedderma shut out two Vernon power plays, but was unable to stop Vernon’s Griffin Brar from scoring his first goal of the season,bringing the Vipers one goal closer to the lead closing off the second.

Riding the morale from a strong second period, Vernon came out the gate in force in the third. With defenceman Connor Elliot tying up the score at 2-2. The remainder of the period was hard fought with high tensions. Multiple penalties were taken as well as a misconduct for Kings’ defenceman Amran Bhabra after a clash in the Kings’ end. With little over three minutes left in the final period the Kings’ took advantage of a power play. With Ty Gagno scoring his second of the night cementing the Kings’ lead for a final score of 3-2.
