PRINCE GEORGE — Hudson Thornton made a strong impact for the Prince George Cougars on Friday (Mar.3) by scoring the opening goal and the game winner as his club defeated the Spokane Chiefs 5-2 at the CN Centre.

The first period saw three goals combined in the contest as Thornton and Cole Dubinsky would tally their 19th and 18th goals respectively on the season. The Chiefs would answer back a minute later with Cade Hayes finding the back of the net for his 18th on the year to make it 2-1 Prince George heading into the first intermission.

Carter Streek would erase Prince George’s two goal lead, firing his 15th of the campaign to tie things up at two. Hudson Thornton would score his second of the night at 17:27 of the second, which would ultimately be the game winner to make it 3-2. Villiam Kmec would then extend the Cougars lead by two just 59 seconds later as his club would go up 4-2 heading into the second intermission.

Ethan Samson would add the insurance marker for the Cougars as they have now won six of their last seven games.
