Samson’s three point night unable to stop Chiefs from defeating the Cougars 5-4 in OT
PRINCE GEORGE — One day removed from their loss, the Spokane Chiefs came out on Saturday (Mar.4) with a feisty performance, defeating the Prince George Cougars 5-4 in overtime.
Prince George opened the scoring at 11:40 of the first with Carlin Dezainde sniping his fifth on the year. As the first period was coming to an end, Berkly Catton would strike first blood for Spokane with his 18th of the season to tie things up at one.
In the second period, Ondrej Becher scored his 13th of the campaign to help the Cougars regain their lead at 2:30 of the frame. The Chiefs were not backing down though, as two goals would be scored in a span of three minutes thanks to Grady Lane and Will McIsaac to give Spokane a 3-2 lead heading into the second intermission.
The Cougars came back in the third with two goals of their own, as Ethan Samson and Chase Wheatcroft would give Prince George the lead once again at 4-3. Berkly Catton would tally his second of the contest at 6:44 of the frame to even the score at four heading into overtime.
