PRINCE GEORGE– As the BCHL Season comes to a close, seeding for playoffs will once again come down to the wire. With only five points separating 3rd and 7th place, Spruce Kings players know the importance of these final four games down the stretch.

“Every game left is a playoff game now. Every game’s worth four points. We’re all so tight in this division. This weekend will be huge for us. It’s all about trying to get home ice in the first round.” – John Herrington, Spruce King’s leading scorer

The team now has two straight home games against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. A team they have a 2-1-2-0 when squaring off and every single game being within 2 goals. As a result, players will be focusing on the little things when these two teams match up.

“We’ve been close to Salmon Arm all season, but I think if we just play hard against them, take fewer penalties, and if our power play does well. We need to capitalize on our chances and we’ll have success.” –Colton Cameron, Spruce King’s Captain

The home-ice advantage would be a big plus for Head Coach Alex Evin, but he wants to see his team string together some good performances.

“I’d love to see us play four solid games, whether we win or lose. Obviously, this season we’ve been a lot up and down, game to game, period to period. How we play, how we handle situations, how we manage games, that’s what we’re looking for, trying to build some positives going into the playoffs.” – Alex Evin, Head Coach

Win or lose the Spruce Kings will be gunning for that 3 or 4 seed to ensure they get early playoff games in their home barn, With players knowing the city of Prince George will show up and bring momentum.
