PRINCE GEORGE- The U-13 BC Hockey championships are underway from Kin 1 Arena.

Eight teams are divided into two pools of four. In pool A is the Cranbrook Bucks, the Fort St. John Flyers, The Hollyburn Country Club Huskies and the Williams Lake Timberwolves.

Pool B contains the Vancouver Thunderbirds, the Kelowna Rockets, the Campbell River Tyees and the Prince George Cougars.

Opening Ceremonies were held Sunday night. The event saw city officials, Elders and even a BC Hockey representative in attendance.

The ceremonies were closely followed by the Prince George U-13 Cougars first game of the tournament.

While the game wasn’t the result the Cougars were hoping for losing 5-2 to the Thunderbirds, the coaches say this tournament as a whole is an incredible opportunity.

“It’s a great vibe on the ice and lots of smiles off the ice,” said Cougars Assistant Coach, Cody Broster.
