PRINCE GEORGE– The Junior Timberwolves curling team put the finishing touches on their games Wednesday night as they prepared to participate in the 2023 BC Winter games. Colby Wilson, Liam O’Bryan, Jack Holmes, Isaac Villeneuve, and Oren Wood will represent Prince George. A new challenge for the boys which they are looking forward to.

“This is going to be our first time off in a long time, going down to the Winter Games for anyone representing our zone. This will be the biggest competition that we’ve all played in, especially in our age category. Not playing against people who are significantly older than us.” –Colby Wilson, Skip

The journey started back in November when the group first got together. Since then they’ve spent hours in the curling rink improving their game and gelling as a team, becoming closer every time.

“We’ve been practicing a lot, so we’ve gotten to see each other at least three times a week. We’ve been on four bonspiels together, so we’ve done a lot of ice time together. Really got to know each other.” –Isaac Villeneuve, Lead

Their coach echoed that statement seeing tremendous progress on the ice as the year went on.

“They’ve really come together. They’ve improved immensely. They’re not the same kids they were in November. They’re a great team together, all their personalities work, and they’re winning.” – Wendee Copeland, Head Coach

The games are set to take place March 23-26 with Team Wilson set to represent Cariboo/North East region.
