PRINCE GEORGE — At Art Knapps, the Fill The Bus event takes place this weekend, put on by the Twolves Student Athlete Society (TSAS).

The society is raising money for 2 year old Ethan Reimer, who was named MVP of the Month. Ethan was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome which is a birth defect that affects normal blood flow through the heart. By 2 pm on Saturday, the society had already collected dozens upon dozens of bags of cans and bottles.

“Every March our club does pick someone and we represent them and raise money for them. So it’s always the month of March. And Ethan is a two year old and he has a congenital heart disease. And so he’s already went through two massive heart surgeries and two treatments, and he already needs another one.” – Kenzie Chilcott, Twolves Student Athlete Society

Jocelyn Kerr, was the 2022 MVP of the Month, and told us how important the event was to her.

“The Fill the bus campaign, benefitted me greatly when I was fighting stage four Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer. I was relocated to Vancouver, B.C. Children’s Hospital for eight months and I lived away from home. And while I was there, the community of Prince George rallied behind me and through this campaign with the UNBC Timberwolves and we were able to raise $6,500 for myself.” – Jocelyn Kerr, 2022 MVP of the Month

The fill the bus event is not the only way the TSAS is helping raise funds for Ethan and his family.

“So Ethan has a Go Fund Me page. So if you’re looking to donate in the first place, that would be really great to go through there. Secondly, if you’re live in northern B.C. and you do have bottles, you can bring them to return it depot and we have a phone number that you can just give them and that will be the tab to donate through.” – Kenzie Chilcott, Twolves Student Athlete Society
