CRANBROOK — 24 hours after defeating the Cranbrook Bucks 4-3, The Prince George Spruce Kings were on the other side of a 4-3 loss on Saturday (Mar.25).

Prince George was off to a stellar start in the first period. John Herrington would get the club on the board just 27 seconds into the game. Over a minute later, Ben LeFranc would score as well to give the Spruce Kings an early 2-0 lead.

Despite strong battles on both sides of the ice, the Bucks would erase the two goal deficit in under 1:40 in the second period. Donovan Frias would score his 24th of the campaign while Kellan Hjartarson would fire in his 14th to make things even at two.

In the third, both teams would play solid defensively until Ty Gagno would give the Spruce Kings a 3-2 lead with under six minutes left in the game. But the Bucks were not going away anytime soon. Nick Peluso would tie things up at three at 18:46 to send the game into overtime.

In the extra frame, Noah Quinn would be the hero for the Bucks. Scoring the overtime winner and conclude their regular season at 36-14-1-3 while Prince George finishes at fifth in the interior divison of the BCHL at 27-20-6-1.

Next up, the Spruce Kings will now have to wait for their first round matchup as the Sunday’s game (Mar.26) between the Pentiction Vees and Salmon Arm Silverbacks will determine their opponent. If the Silverbacks win, the Spruce Kings will face the West Kelowna Warriors. A Silverbacks loss will otherwise see themselves face the Spruce Kings in the first found.
