PRINCE GEORGE – The Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps has been a part of Prince George for 65 years. This week the 2618 Cadet Corps marked the milestone anniversary with a full-dress parade.

Sixty-five years of history hang in one of the rooms at the 2618 Royal Canadian Army Cadet corps headquarters.

“It’s really special in a way. We’ve beat a lot of other cadet units in the number of years that we’ve been around. Some units don’t last as long as we have. Some are definitely older than we are as well. But 65 years as an organization for youth in Prince George is a very good historic event for.”

Captain Andrew Tomlison, Commanding Officer, 2618 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps

The cadet program offers pride in itself with the opportunities that develop leadership and self-confidence in youth between 12 to 18 years old.

The cadets are known to assist with projects leading to remembrance day events.

Joining the Cadet Corps is one of the free youth programs available in town.

Those interested in enrolling in the Canadian Cadet Organizations can register online at the Canadian cadet program.
