PRINCE GEORGE — Chief Dolleen Logan is excited to get back to work after being re-elected to a second term as Chief of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation.

Speaking at the announcement of the new council, Chief Logan said that collaboration with other first nations will be a priority for the new term.

“It’s huge. And then with us working together, I think it’s just it’ll be even more qualified. Togetherness and working together that’s that’s the key is us working together on how to manage all of our natural resources, how to manage everything and working together. It will scare the government.” – Chief Dolleen Logan, Lheidli T’enneh First Nation

Incumbent councillor Joshua Seymour who was also re-elected in Tuesday’s election is hoping for more community involvement when it comes to decision making for the nation.

“Looking at the next two years, I want to see more community involvement and decision making. We came out of a time where we couldn’t have as many community members within our government system, and I think it’s time that we started including a lot of the community members to get where we want to be now. – Councillor Joshua Seymour, Lheidli T’enneh First Nation

Chief and council are elected to two year terms, and in this election there were 21 candidates for council and six for chief. Nearly 300 members came out to vote which represents over 55% of eligible voters.
