Volcanic ash cloud still affecting flights in Northern B.C.
PRINCE GEORGE — An ash cloud from an eruption of a Russian volcano is still impacting flights in Northern B.C.
Air Canada says in its daily travel outlook that flights departing and arriving from Prince Rupert (YPR), Smithers (YYD), and Terrace (YXT) may be impacted by the volcanic ash cloud.
Russia’s Shiveluch volcano erupted Tuesday and the ash from the eruption has drifted over Northern B.C. The ash can limit visibility for pilots and the particles in the ash cloud are not good for the engines of an aircraft.
The airline also says that flights to and from Vancouver (YVR) may also be impacted.
